1. SAY IT WITH ME...I LOVE JANUARY!
OK, I don't love the cold, but I do love the fresh
start
that January offers to each and every one of us.
It's
a great time for reflection and to understand
what is important to you. Since getting organized
is one of the most promised New Year's resolution,
now is the perfect time to:
1. Take stock of what is in your life. What can
you do
without? What do you want more of?
2. Go back to the basics of life. What is your purpose
here?
Is it to crazily rush around trying to be everything
to everybody? Or do you want to take some time to
do
things that are meaningful to you? Think basic.
3. Set your goals by writing them down. Take 2 hours
by yourself or with your family and list some
1, 3, 5, 10, and 20 year goals. What do you want?
Think
big.
4. Plan your year. Look at the goals you have set
and
put timelines to each one. When would you like to
see
them accomplished? Now plan the steps you need to
take
and put them in your planner.
5. If you want to declutter your life, plan to spend
just 10 minutes a day organizing. This will add
up to
over 60 hours for the year!
Need a refresher on writing goals? Just go to the
link
below and read the January 2002 Kreamer Connection
archive
that will walk you through goal setting.

Fall in love with January and 2003 could turn out
to
be the best year of your life...PLAN ON IT!

2. ASK PATTY THE ORGANIZER

I know I need to get my office organized but the
task
seems so overwhelming and I have no idea where to
start so I
don't. I want to get a fresh start for the New Year.
Do you have any ideas?
J.D. Benson in Columbus, OH
Dear J.D.,
The hardest part IS starting. Rather than think
of it as
organizing your whole office, narrow it down to
one spot.
Use what I call "flashlight focus". Imagine
that you
are holding a flashlight and shining it on one spot,
such
as a pile of papers on your desktop. Concentrate
on that
pile until it is sorted and organized and then move
the
flashlight on to another spot. Consider every baby
step a
victory, allow yourself to enjoy the success, and
you will
WANT to move on to the next spot of light!
Do you have a question you'd like to ask? If so,
send it to
patty@kreamerconnect.com and put ASK PATTY in the
subject.
To be considered for publication, please write your
question in 50 words or less and be sure to include
your Name, City, State.

3. IN CLOSING -- 12 MONTHS TO SIMPLICITY
In part one of this newsletter, you read about setting
goals for the year. This is the first step in
enriching and simplifying your life. Each month
in 2003,
we are going to explore how to organize and simplify
a
different aspect of life.
This will include the organizing of finances, photographs,
computers, papers, home offices, garages, kitchens,
your
time, your car, and other areas of life that impact
you daily.
If you have any requests, let me know. I write this
newsletter
for you so make it yours!
I wish you all a Happy, Prosperous and Peaceful
New Year!
Here's to simplifying your life!
Until February,
Patty
