1. 12 MONTHS TO SIMPLICITY-DEALING WITH PAPER (UGH!)

If there is one thing in this world that most
people would like to do, it would be stop the mail
from coming every day. Just when you think you have
a handle on your paperwork, another blob shows up in
your mailbox.

So how do you keep up with it?

1. Open your mail daily. Don't let it pile up for days
because it now becomes an overwhelming chore. Also, open
your mail at the same time and place each day to create a
routine.

2. Always open your mail over a wastebasket. This can
quickly help to eliminate the junk mail. If you find it
hard to part with junk mail because you might want to look
at it later, realize that before it came, you didn't miss it
so throwing it away will remove the pressure of having to look
at it later.

3. Throw away the envelopes that come in the mail. This
is half the volume and all it does is take up more room.

4. Evaluate the wastebasket where you open your mail. Is it
large or small? If it's small, get a bigger one. The bigger
the trash can, the more you'll throw away.

5. Use a PaperConnect (TM) Tickler File to keep track of your
daily action papers. For more information, visit
http://www.kreamerconnect.com/tickler_file.htm.

I compare handling your paperwork right away to a hangover.
When you drink too much, you know you'll have a nasty hangover.
When you avoid your mail/papers, you know you'll have a ton to
contend with sooner or later, so beat the rush and tackle it
daily!

3. IN CLOSING -- GIVE THE GIFT

So the holidays are long gone and you still have those
gifts that you were given but hated. Is it acceptable to
re-gift? I say yes. We have enough stuff in our lives
that we do like. To keep those items that we don't like
is just asking for clutter troubles.

If you are worried that the giver of the gift is going
to make you produce the item in question, practice making a
face that says, "I have no idea where that is. My spouse (child,
nanny, housecleaner, etc.) must have done something with it!"

Here's the secret...don't give the gift to the person that
gave it to you :-)

Here's to simplifying your life!

Until April,

Patty
